Freezer Cooking: Baking Healthier Snacks for My Family

If you follow me on Facebook then you know I have been doing some baking for the freezer this past week.   I got some great deals on Free Range, Vegetarian Fed, Anti-biotic and Hormone free eggs as wells has mark downs on several bags of dried fruits with no added anything.

So I decided I would bake up some healthier versions of snacks for the freezer.  I don’t know if you have noticed but I rarely buy any prepackaged snacks any more.  Yes they make organic cookies and muffins but have you ever looked at the prices?  They are outrageous, especially when I know that a package will be gone so fast.  So lately our snacks have consisted of yogurt, cheese, sometimes crackers and then on Fridays I usually buy or make some kind of dessert.

With the girls home for the summer though I need some snacks!  Snacks that are made with ingredients I am comfortable feeding my family.  So, the great deals I got were the incentive I needed to get started.

So far I have baked:

Chocolate Coconut Muffins x 2

Apple Rhubarb Tea Bread x 2

Peanut Butter Coconut Oatmeal Cookies x2

Ultimate Chocolate Brownie Muffins

Oatmeal Apple Cookies

Apple Date Loaf

Berry Muffins x 2

Banana Bread

Apple Date Oatmeal Cookies

Not everything made it into the freezer.  My family had to taste test nearly everything.  I will be posting recipes over the next few days.  I will link to the original recipes and post the changes I made.

I am hoping to do a lot of freezer cooking this summer, I would like to get my freezer full of snacks, as well as meals or partially prepped meals.

Do you freezer cook?  If so do you have a favorite recipe that always turns out great from the freezer?  If so I would love to hear about it.  Leave a comment or send me an email.
