What to do when you get a hot coupon for dog/cat food or treats that will make them free or nearly free and you don’t have a pet?

Pick them up anyway and donate!

We have several No-Kill shelters here in Southern Illinois as I am sure there is across the U.S.  They could definitely use our donation.  At the end of last year I posted about the Humane Society of Southern Illinois and their needs. Yes they need pet food but they also need cleaning supplies, as couponers we can get cheap cleaning supplies too.  Here are some basics they use on a daily basis. (this list is from the Humane Society, other shelters may have different needs)

Bleach
Dish Soap
Laundry Detergent
Lysol All-Purpose Cleaner
Mr. Clean
Clorox Clean-Up
Fabric Softener Sheets
Contractor Trash Bags
Paper Towels
Postage Stamps
Dog and Puppy Food (Purina or higher quality)
Cat and Kitten Food (Purina or higher quality)
Cat and Dog Toys
Dog and Cat Shampoo
Frontline and Advantage Flea Preventative
Heartgard or Interceptor Heartworm Preventative

I would imagine that their needs are similar however you probably want to call before you visit for specific details on when and where to make the donation.
