My Shopping 4/29 through 5/5

Last week I shopped a lot and spent a total of $168.24 out of my precious budget leaving me $31.76 for this week.  But since I totally bombed on last weeks menu plan I actually had a quite a bit of groceries left.

So over the weekend I ran into Walmart just to grav a few things that we go through super quickly around here.  Bread, peanut butter, all fruit jam, bananas, organic sugar, organic milk and a free coffee creamer.  I was pretty excited to get coupons (including a free one) from Vocal Point for a coffee creamer that is simply made out of real ingredients, no high fructose corn syrup of hydrogenated oils.  Real cream, real sugar!

I bought a couple non grocery budget related items at Walmart including my daughter’s phone card.

So my total was $16 and some change

Yesterday I visited CVS with Shannon from Nana’s Coupons to help walk her through some basics of CVS.  I know from experience that CVS and Walgreens shopping can be very daunting in the beginning.

I started with $6 in Extra Care Bucks

I bought

2 Right Guard Body wash @ $2.49 each

2 Colgate Max Fresh Toothpaste @ $2.77 each

Coupons I Used:

Buy One Get one Free Right Guard Q (-$2.49)

-$6 in extra care Bucks

My total spent was $2.82 and I earned $7.54 in Extra Care Bucks

I didn’t have the Colgate coupons or this would have been even cheaper.  Since all these items are for my donation box the $2.82 will not be added to my grocery budget.  I mostly haven’t been showing all my donation items until the end of the month but since this whole purchase was for donation I decided to show the trip.  :)

After the trip to CVS  I ran over to the Farmer’s Market.  This was our town’s first Farmer’s Market of the year and there wasn’t very much produce at all yet.  I got there at 2:50 (it opens at 3) and people were already walking away with their bags.  Anyway,  I went first to the one farmer who had produce available and I his last bunch of Rhubarb for $4,  I also got 2 bunches of Spring Onion for $1.25 a bunch.  His veggies smelled so good!

Then I looked around and found a local farmer who brought beautiful large brown chicken eggs from Chickens that are pasture raised, no hormones, no antibiotics, vegetarian fed, etc.  He had a sign displayed with all the specifics about his chicken’s.  I bought 2 dozen at $3.25 each.

Finally I stopped at the Amish booth.  I know that I can make homemade goods probably/maybe a little cheaper however I really do want to support our local Farmer’s as well as the local Amish community this summer because I want this Farmer’s market to come back every year in our community.  The Amish tables looked so good I really had a hard time deciding.  I finally settled on a loaf of Honey Wheat Bread for $3 and a loaf of Zucchini bread for $4.  Let me say the Zucchini bread is divine, just very lightly sweet and perfect.  We haven’t eaten any of the Honey Wheat yet.

So I spent a grand total of $20 at the Farmer’s Market

My shopping total for the week was $36 and my grand total for the payday was $204.24, that puts me over budget by $4.24
