My Shopping 4/15 through 4/21
Last week when shopping day rolled around and I saw that gas was almost $4 a gallon I got this idea that I didn’t want to waste gas and drive the 20 miles one way to Marion to shop. I convinced myself that instead I would just run to Walmart here in town and pick up a little produce and we would just make it until the next Friday. Granted we still had plenty of food but we had zero easy food except for the produce I picked up at Walmart. So this meant that for an entire week I had to cook everything. Every meal, every snack, everything!
By the time Tuesday rolled around I was getting a little tired or cooking everything, and my dishwasher was getting a little tired too. So the girls and I went into town to visit my family for our Tuesday get togethers. We had lunch at Ryan’s and then I decided to bring home a pizza from Little Caesars, however I still did not get any groceries because I only needed to make it a couple more days. Tuesday was a nice enough break and on Wednesday morning I went back to the cooking.
Although I really want to start cooking more of our snacks it does help however to have at least a few easy items on hand.

Here is what I picked up at Walmart. Not everything was organic because Walmart only carries a few organic items. However I just really didn’t want to drive to Marion.
My total spent $16.11
On the previous week I spent $143.21 giving me a grand total of $159.32 for this payday.

I’ve been cooking and baking all of our meals from scratch for almost two years now, and it does get easier the more you do it. However, since breaking my hand I’ve had to rely on some pre-made things, like instant mashed potatoes because I can’t peel potatoes with my hand cast, and I’ll admit it’s been nice
I even bought laundry detergent from the store, instead of making my own like I normally do-it feels really weird using it lol!

It is nice to have some easy snacks around however when I do bring home the easy stuff it just disappears so fast!
I am trying to make more and more of what we are eating, not just our basic meals. I know that in the long run it will help with the new organic/healthy eating budget.
