Simple Steps to Savings: Deciding What Kind of a Saver You Want to Be
We have discussed the importance of keeping some type of menu plan as well as keeping track of what you have at home in your pantry. We all know that we want to save money but what kind of saver do you want to be?
We are all different, our family sizes are different, our dietary needs are different, the amount of time we have available as well as the types of stores we have close at hand are different. Chances are we can’t be the same exact kind of savers and I am sure most of us don’t want to be.
My main goal is to stay under the basic budget my husband and I have set forth. For us, a family of 4, our budget is $175 per payday(2 weeks) for all grocery/household/toiletry and pet related items. Ocassionally I come in over budget but overall I manage to stay under budget.
I use coupons as much as I can but sometimes don’t use them at all. When I have time I visit multiple stores and when I don’t, I go to one. I stock up whenever I can. For the most part I just go with the flow and be thankful that I am no longer spending $300+ per payday on less stuff than what I have now. I will most likely never only spend $40 a week but that is okay with me.
So what kind of saver do you want to be? How much time do you have to spare? What kind of needs does your family have?
- Super Simple – This will require no coupons but will require planning.
- Moderate – will require some couponing, ocassional store hopping and plenty of planning.
- No Holds Barred – This will require the most, coupononing, store hopping, deal catching, planning, planning, planning.
I am personally in the moderate section and plan to stay in the moderate section. Next week I will start by going in depth about the Super Simple Saver, if you think that is you be sure to check back.
