Giving from You Heart: Heather’s Story

Heather is a mom of 2 and she blogs at Airplanes & Dragonflies.
After I posted April’s giving story Heather left a comment explaining how she helps out her friends and family. Thanks Heather for letting me share your giving story.
I mail out coupons to my family and friends. Most of them live on set budgets and they don’t have a lot of money to spend. Money for my husband and I isn’t too tight, so we pay for the stamps and postage to mail the coupons to them. (Sometimes sending a bunch of coupons to my baby sister can cost a buck and a half, as I send her whatever I am not going to mail to anyone else and her and her friends get together and divide them up.) We also buy the coupons and get the ones from our neighbors that they aren’t going to use. I spend the time cutting them out and cutting off the access paper because every little bit costs more to mail.
They thank me all the time and tell me that if it wasn’t for me sending them coupons, that they might not have been able to make it through the week or month financially. ~Heather
Here is another great example of how giving/helping others does not have to mean handing over cash that you yourself may not have. Regardless of your financial situation, anyone can give.
What else could we do? Cook a meal for someone you know and surprise them, help someone with yard/house work, volunteer anywhere (homeless shelter, soup kitchen, school, church, etc.), visit the nursing home etc. Take a hard look at your family, neighborhood, community and see where you could be of help. I know that giving of my time is harder even though it doesn’t cost me any money, but trust me when I say, it can make a serious impact.
Leave a comment and let me know how you give, I would love to share it with my readers!

Thank you for sharing! It is so encouraging to hear what others are doing. And it gets my wheels turning! I have an aunt that sends me her coupons. And she wouldn’t let me pay for postage.
I know Heather!! I love hearing different ways that I could potentially help someone.
Your blessed to have that Aunt!
It is encouraging to hear others’ stories–it inspires me to work harder. I will taking about 120 Sobes to our church’s ministry for youth this week that I got free at CVS.
Wow, 120 FREE Sobes?? Great job, Cheryl!
This was really interesting. I loved reading it
