Kitchen Redo: $200 Budget Pt. 2 Wall Color

kitchen week 1

When I left you last week my kitchen was looking like this….white primed walls.

The first week I spent $30.  I have to say I am thankful I have a lot of leftover painting supplies around the house from projects  I had done but I did have to pick up a couple things this week.

$30 Previous Total

$23 Gallon Wall Color

$6 Special Trim Brush (will last the whole project with proper cleaning)

$6  Pack of 3 Shur Line Rollers

Total Spent so far: $65

$200 will be cutting it close but I am still confident I can do it.

wall color

If you remember this is the wall color I was going for.  I contemplated whether or not to buy the Behr paint or to have them scan the color and get Kilz paint instead.  Kitchens always seem to get so dirty and I need to be able to scrub things down so I opted for Kilz.   I think the color turned out pretty good.

kitchen week 2 no1

The top picture is most accurate.  In the second I was taking a picture toward all the sunlight and it made the color look just a little off.  Well we are loving it already!!  It just looks like a totally different room and to think when it gets done I probably won’t recognize it at all anymore.

kitchen week 2 no2

So what is coming up next?

Well I will be out of town all weekend so I probably will not get a whole lot done this week.  It will just depend on how tired I am when I get home whether or not I will paint on Monday.  If I have the energy I will work on the trim.  If not I will not start working on it until Wednesday.

The trim consists of the window, the 2 doors, all baseboards and a chair rail border that I am going to tape off and paint.  The trim color is also going to be the same color as my cabinets.

sweet carrot

And there ya go!  Behr’s Sweet Carrot right next to the Jute.  I think I will be having it scanned and mixed in Kilz just like the walls.  I am hoping that 1 gallon will do my trim and my cabinets, that should keep me on track with my budget.  I am keeping my fingers crossed.
