Bible in 90 Days Check-In Day

Although I haven’t checked in for quite a long time I am still moving right along.  Week by week I have been back and forth.  Right on schedule or behind a day or two.  If I have been behind then I get caught up and am on schedule by Monday night.  This week however was a little different.

I didn’t read 3 days this week!! Thursday was our Anniversary and I was gone most of the day and then through the evening at the County Spelling Bee with my girls.  So I didn’t read that night.  Then Saturday morning we headed off to Upward ballgames after which we dropped the girls off with my Mom.  We headed to Paducah for a quick over night trip.  So I didn’t read Saturday.  Sunday we got to my Mom’s about 4 and then stayed for dinner and didn’t get home until 7.  I could have started reading but I had a lot of blog work to catch up on so I didn’t read Sunday.  By the time Monday morning rolled around I am 4 days behind!!!

So this morning I made myself a mug of hot tea and snuggle into my recliner and began reading.

Esther was easy!! I love the story to begin with and it is not real long.  Plus we just had a speaker on Esther at our monthly Women’s Meeting at Church and she was very thorough.  So I breezed through Esther, enjoying every minute, I have to admit that I couldn’t help but think of this as I read.

Next I got busy reading Job.  I have never read Job before even though I have heard the story more times than I could count.  I thought I would just read and see how far I could get.  I found Job extremely interesting, I just couldn’t quit reading.

I found it amazing that Job’s “so called friends”  did their very best to insist that Job had done something wrong in the eyes of the Lord to cause all his troubles.

Don’t get me wrong, Job was down in the dumps and not afraid to talk about it.  I imagine I myself would be more than down in the dumps if I had been through everything that Job had been through and now my friends were insisting that it was my fault.

Despite that fact that Job was very vocal about his pity party he never cursed God.  He still loved God, he just wanted to know why God was doing this to him.

I actually made it all the way through Job this morning! I can’t believe it.  Esther and Job in one day.  I did take my time and it took me quite a while.

I still have 24 chapters in Psalms to be up to date.
