Tackle it Tuesday: Trying New Recipes
-->When I plan my weekly menu I find it so much easier to use recipes I know. Recipes that I have cooked before and that I know my family loves. Every once in a while I get brave and venture out with a new recipe, sometimes it works out great and other times it dosen’t. Usually when I do try something new I have found it at Recipezaar and I look for recipes with a lot of good feedback/high rating.

This week my new recipe was Tuna Patty Burgers. (from Recipezaar)
You will need;
2 (6 1/2 ounce) cans tuna in water, drained
2 eggs, beaten
1 carrot, scraped and finely grated
1/4 cup italian-style seasoned dry bread crumb
1 green onion, finely sliced
2 tablespoons chopped flat leaf parsley
1 pinch cayenne pepper
4 teaspoons olive oil
You can get the full list of instructions here.
They have a lot of great reviews, however some people expressed they had trouble with their burgers falling apart. I knew that wouldn’t be me. So I got my Oven Fries cooking and mid way through started working on the Burgers. I followed the recipe however I didn’t use carrot and I did double it.
I started with the burgers in the skillet and well I couldn’t seem to keep them together despite how well I had shaped them to begin with. I worked hard at trying to manipulate them back in to patties and every time I would try and flip them it was a mess.
I finally decided to heat up the George Foreman and move them from the skillet to finish up their cooking. I did manage to get the burgers done even though they were not all very pretty. The one pictured was the prettiest one of all.
The Tuna Burgers tasted fantastic! We all really enjoyed them, even Jonah who is picky about everything. So this recipe will be made again, however next time I think I will make the patties and cook them under the broiler.
Do you try new recipes often or stick to your tried and true favorites?

Hi! Just wanted to check in and see how your Bible in 90 Days reading is coming along. I couldn’t find a contact button so I hope this is okay.
Anyhow, I’d love to know how it is coming so I’ll know how to pray for you. Drop me a note when you get a chance.
