Cloud computing is becoming bigger every day and for many good reasons:
- You can access your Desktop and files from ANYWHERE there is an internet connection.
- Your files, photos, music, etc are stored online, so if you get a virus or your hard drive crashes, you can still access your files on the web via another computer until yours is repaired.
- Many Cloud software titles are FREE!
- Many Cloud environments are FREE!
What is Cloud Computing and Why Do I Care?
If you’re not sure what cloud computing is exactly, let me explain. Cloud computing is basically computing that is done on the web rather than on your local computer? Yes, you still need a computer to access the web, but with cloud computing, you don’t need many of the applications installed on your computer that you might have today. It’s like having a desktop that you can access from anywhere there is an internet connection.
Do I Already Use Cloud Computing?
You may already be using a part of cloud computing and don’t even know it. If you have a web based email account such as gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc, then your email isn’t actually stored on your computer, but on the web. If you use any of these email services currently, you are cloud computing
A Desktop That Travels With You And Saves You Money
A copy of MS Office that you install on your desktop can be quite pricey, but Glide OS has similar features available, and, it’s FREE!
Glide OS has “Presentation” which is an online presentation creator similar to MS PowerPoint. Glide OS has “Crunch” which is a spreadsheet application similar to MS Excel, and Glide OS has “Write”, a word processing application similar to MS Word. This alone can save you over $100!
But, there’s even more:
- FREE drawing application like MS Paint but with CRAYONS! (great for children and the child at heart!)
- FREE Photo Editing software
- 3D Social Media
- Meeting software including video chat!
- website creator
- and more!
How Much Space Do I Get On This Cloud Desktop Environment?
How about 20 GIGs for FREE?! If nothing else, use this as a place to back up your important documents, photos, music, etc.
On What Operating Systems Can Glide OS Run?
Glide OS can be used on Windows, Mac
, and even Linux
