Can I Read the Bible in 90 Days?
-->Twitter has been a buzz lately and I have read tweets of bloggers who are going to read the bible in 90 days. I have thought over and over again that I would really love to try but I just wasn’t sure I wanted to commit to such a hugs task.
First off I must confess, I have never read the Bible in it’s entirity! I have read lots of books mulitple times and I have read a quite a few books at least once. However, there are books that I have never read at all.
Another confession I must make is that I really don’t like to read and that is always my excuse for why I haven’t finished reading the Bible. Reading short things I can handle but long books or novels, I am out. This dislike of reading hasn’t helped me at all in my Bible reading. I go back and forth from staying in the word and reading on a daily basis to completely flaking out and not reading a sentence for weeks at a time.
I am undisciplined and I am tired of it. I really want to do this challenge. I want to ignore that voice inside me that says “But I really don’t like to read”, and I want to challenge myself to learn to be disciplined in my study of the word.
I started today and completed the first portion of the reading. I have to say I am quite excited and I am praying that the desire to complete this will grow in my heart more and more each day.
My plan is to complete the Bible in 90 days after which I plan to study one book a month beginning with the New Testament. I am hoping that during this 90 day challenge a new habit in daily reading will be formed.
I want to thank Mom’s Toolbox for the challenge.
