WFMW: Christmas Gift Switch-up

I remember as a teen my two younger sisters were masters at figuring out their Christmas gifts.  They would touch, shake and exmine the wrapped presents until they would declare what the gift was.  Unfortunately for Mom they were usually right.  So she made it a lot more difficult for them.

She would wrap all of our gifts and number them 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and so on and so on.  In a small notebook she kept hidden the names that belonged to the corresponding numbers.  On Christmas morning she would start calling out: Samantha 1,2, Tamsen 3, Amber 4, Tamsen 5,6 and so on until all the gifts were dispersed.

So a couple of years ago our girls started really trying to figure out their presents and sometimes succeding.  So for Christmas 07 I wrapped their gifts and wrote Emeri’s name on all of Jonah’s gifts and Jonah’s name on all of Emeri’s.

The examined their gifts for weeks and were sure of what they were getting.

Christmas morning they got out all their gifts, stacked them in front of them and asked if they could start opening.  Of course I had to tell them to stand up and trade spots, BOY were they shocked!!

It was really great fun.

Last year we did a specific wrapping paper.  One girl had all of one design and the other had all her gifts wrapped in another design.

This year everything is marked in XXXXXX’s or OOOOO’s.  They are still trying to figure out what they have.  They have been trying really hard to decide who is X and who is O.

I think next year we will move to my Mom’s random number system.  My girls are getting older and wiser! :)

This Christmas gift Switch-up works for us.
